The 2022-23 United Way Chair Family is the Butler Family. Dewayne and Theresa (Malina) Butler are long standing members of the community. Dewayne has been in law enforcement since graduating high school. He served in the United States Air Force as a Military Police Officer and is currently a Schuyler County Sheriff's Deputy. Theresa is a Licensed Real Estate Associate Broker with Signature Properties servicing the Finger Lakes region. Both Dewayne and Theresa take pride in helping others!

If you are looking to find the Butlers, volunteering around their kids schedules is your best bet! Daine Butler, 18, is a 2022 Watkins Glen High School graduate. He spends his time as one of the head lifeguards at the WG State Park pool, is a volunteer of the WG Fire Department, is in the process of becoming an EMT, and shoots trap in his spare time! Malina Butler, 16, is in her Junior year at Watkins Glen High School. Malina is taking all advanced courses and maintains a High Honor Roll average. She swims year round for the Glen Gators and WG Varsity Girls Swim Team. Malina is also a lifeguard at the WG State Park pool, a lifeguard at WGHS, and manager of the WG Varsity Boys Swim Team.

Barbara Malina, Theresa’s mother, lives with the Butler Crew. Barbara has been a lifelong volunteer and member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church. She had taught religion classes, worked in the WG school system, and ran a successful restaurant & winery with her late husband Thomas Malina. She helped raise her 7 grandchildren and continues a wonderful relationship with each of them! Barb also helps support Little League Baseball and hosts the Thomas Malina Memorial Tournament every summer.

The Butler’s are on deck helping for every swim meet, Theresa is on the WG School Board of Education, Dewayne is a volunteer at the WG Fire Department, and all members have served the community through church, Boy Scouts, Little League, and the school. Like many families, Schuyler County is our home and we strive to make it the best for everyone! That is why we support the United Way!

The United Way supports all of the community and helps so many! Their small business strives to support big issues! With help from United Way, every member of our community benefits!
